I use both oil and grease.
Weapon Shield Grease on the slide rails, barrel bushing and locking lugs.
Weapon Shield CLP on evrything else.

Pretty much the same outline on all my pistols.

I use TW25B in both the grease and oil. Hard to get to locations the oil and high wear areas the grease. For the same reasons everyone else has stated.
Any stored weapon I use the grease so it is still there when they get brought back out the next time.

I mean I get it, its slick and hell if it can lube a motor it can lube just about anything. But I hadn't heard of that till this thread.
I use Castrol synthetic motor oil for 2-stroke bike engines (as adviced by SV Infinity gunsmith in Germany) with some Militec-1 mixed in. Seem to work nice in my STI 2011, as well as my gas piston AR.

Personally, I have never seen the need for grease on handguns. I like Weapon Shield and Slick 2000 EWL. But, truthfully, I think that under non-extraordinary conditions, such as arctic cold or 130 degree sand, most any lubricant will work well enough.

I use a lube by AFTEC that's basically jet engine bearing grease. Pretty sweet and has been said by some to make the gun shoot softer. From using it over the past 10 years, I don't know about all that, but it definitely smooths out the pistol in recoil compared to oil. No issues with gumming during cold climate either.

I'm testing a new lubricant for a friend who's an engineer down at Lockhead and so far it's great in the AR and shotgun (Benelli M2). In the little bit I've done with it in the pistols, it's nice, but not totally sold on oil for the pistols after years of using grease.

TW25B for years. Just to try something else recently, I started a 2,000 round challenge with my Colt Commander and I lubed it with Pematex white lithium grease. 500 rounds so far of cast lead reloads and no problems. I had been using that grease on my M1 Garand and carbine for years with good results, so I thought I would try it on a pistol.

I checked out the website, and went through all the pages. It does seem quite impressive. The only thing that has me on the edge to fork out some dough to try it is the fact that it is 100% safe and uses no petroleum whatsoever. Do they take phone orders rather that snail mail?
