Mine aren't soft and I have used them alot. They actually get used. I have some 2 pc. MI's that suck real bad. Alot of movement. The UTG's have none at all. The weight doesn't bother me. I know they aren't top of the line and that's frowned apoun but they serve me well. Will I keep them? I dont know. I have been thinking heavy on turning my AR's into free floaters. Just dont have the cash right now. I shut up now.

They feel great and fit up tight.

I went with a new gas block (lo pro from midwest industries) and it worked like a charm...

    Thank you.

Don't get me wrong. They do lock up tight and will serve your purposes for the time being.

DD omega...if you are even thinking of going to a rail in the future, get the best. Don't buy something you know you are going to replace, you will just end up wasting money. I had tried the UTG rails, they seemed to work, heavy and "fat" though; although i never used them very hard. I then went with YHM and they were good rails for what they were, pretty light, a bit "fat", but tight and worked good. I then decided to re work my rifle and upgraded to the DD omega, awesome piece of work there. I wasted money trying things out instead of just ponying up the cash and going with the best, slim, super light, and simple as can be to install.

I started with a SureFire M73, i did not care for that rail. I called them to ask about the threaded points along the rail thinking they sold a sling swivel. they told me not to mount a sling on their rail. I had one mounted for several years with no problems of light use. My next rail was a DI Troy rail. It is a great rail, I liked the fact that it was affordable, less than $150 and that it came with QD sling attachments on the front and rear sides of the rail for 4 total options. I hate that the QD attachment point allows for the QD sling swivel to spin 360 degrees it is always getting my sling twisted.

Enter the DD Omega it is a great rail, nice and thin and light as mentioned and easily user installed. The selling point for me was the QD limiter for the sling attacment point. The only down side for me is there are only QD points near the delta ring nothing out further where I like to mount my sling. They are also more than a hundred buck more than the Troy DI.

I've also seen offerings from cav arms and RRA but as I have said, I would prefer something that doesn't look so traditional.

Can you guys give options? The 9 inch daniel defense, larue, or other rails sure look cool but I'm not looking into dropping some coin on things which I do not think I need (probably in the future lol).
I got a rifle length set aside for a lt wt 6.8 build this winter

you might find these interesting....and extremely well built...imo

An option in the "Extra length/Less traditional" category, while maintaining the front sight, is the Extended Mid Length. Gets that gripping surface a little closer to the muzzle. I don't think it's on the website yet, but it looks like this.

Would ROCK on a 12.5 Kino SBR too!

apexcncshop, since the format seems to prevent rail covers to be used as heat pads, how does the tube dissipate in an extended fire sessions?
