Looking to upgrade from my old Executive E1.

Looking for some opinions and to see what people carry. My old Executive E1 has served me well, but is only 15 lumens. I want something as small, but with more lumens(120?). I really like the G2L price, but the LX series looks cool, but expensive. It will be my carry light.

Flashlights are the about the only thing that I have chosen to avoid the "buy once cry once" theology. I have owned Surefires, and I just dont think that for MY applications, they are necessary. MY being the operative word there...I am not in harms way by profession. I have had great success with Fenix flashlights, and have pretty much switched over. This little light is very nice, durable, and has only 2 outputs. I try to avoid multiple outputs for ease of use. Mine has been dropped over 10 times, been wet, and left outside in Texas summer-grade humidity.

I have belt carried a Fenix L1P and L1DCE in the past, though both have now been given to other family members. I currently carry a Novatac 85T, in a custom leather sheath by qawarol, running on a single RCR123 LiFePO4 (non-explosive) battery. I recharge weekly.

I also have a Lummi RAW Al with the 20/100 pill in it on the keychain, but that is just for convenience.

That is the first I have heard of Fenix. I am going to look for their website.

I was thinking the Lx series because of the switch setup.

Hey, if you have been happy with an E1 for so long, then are you in for a surprise! (and probably flashlight overload...)

Here are some of the better of the small 1x123 lights that I like for their simplicity, quality, "tactical UI", and other specified reasons.

Value! I pocket carry a 1x123 everyday in work dress clothes. Smallest usable 1x123 light I have found.

The new SF standard. Much bigger than your E1 though. You could wait for the much anticipated LX1 smaller 1 cell version...

A more comparable light to your E1, I just hate the press once high, press again low.

High end semi-custom bombproof light for not that much more $$$. I carry one behind my extra mag when in regular clothes.

    Good luck in your choice!

Thanks. That 4sevens looks interesting, but I think that I am going to hold out for an LX1.

Well you won't be alone in waiting, it seems it's been a couple years in coming...

The Quark is relatively cheap AND can take rechargeable 123's which the LX1 may well NOT be able to do given the voltages involved. Just an appeal to your obviously thrifty side!

On a size note, I have an older L1 and it is 1" longer and overall wider than my 1x123 Quark. Basically, it feels huge in comparison and judging from their newer lights I don't think reducing size is high on SF's lists of upgrades for the LX1. Basically, it doesn't get much smaller than a 1x123 Quark for a light with a rear click switch.

    Good Luck,

    Dennis.
