    DE as a Hemostatic

Anyone have any experience with using diatomaceous earth as a hemostatic? I have seen it mentioned in some patents for "impregnated gauze sponges" as one of several possible clotting agents - curious if anyone has any experience with its actual use as a hemostatic?

No but I have been curious as well. Seems like the same concept as chitosan (sp?)

There must be something to it, as I see a lot of online studies and even a patent application for it.

    Interesting stuff, to be sure.
