    Weight difference, M910A vs. M961XM

I posed this question on the other forum and got the usual answers. I was hoping that someone, maybe like Grant, that sells and has both could actually weigh some and tell what the difference in weight is between the M910A and the M961XM with a Tango Down veticle grip. Anyone else that has both is welcome to answer too

I don't have a 961 to compare weights with, but I do have a M910A. It has a LaRue LT170 mount on it.

With the LT170 mount, 3 Surefire batteries, MN10 lamp, no LED bikini covers or filter, and two dabs of loctite, it weighs in at 16.5oz. The original rail clamp weighs 1.2 oz.

I find my scale suspect, so you might want to get numbers from someone more sure of their scale's readings.

Hope this is of some help, though.

That is a much more helpful response than I got you know where. Gives me a number to compare my M961 to as I'd really prefer the M910.

The M961XM07 weighs in at about 11 ounces and a TD VG weighs around 5 ounces.

If you used a LT mount VS the clamp mount, the M961XM + TD VG would be lighter. Using the clamp mount, they are about the same it appears. The M910 however gives you dual LED's and the M961XM does not.

I recently gound an old 2002 Surefire catalog when I was going through my pdf files. It had the listed most of the weapon lights that were available.

They obviously didn't have the XM tailcaps out yet so here are weights for M900a, M951/2 and M961/2. I think the Charlie tailcap should be pretty close in weigh to the XM tailcap.

    M900a - 18 oz (ARMS Mount)

    M952c - 9.6 oz (6v + ARMS Mount + Charlie switch)

    M951c - 10.4 oz (6v + Screw on mount + Charlie switch)

    M962c - 11.8 OZ (9v + ARMS Mount + Charlie switch)

    M961c - 12.6 oz (9v + Screw on mount + Charlie switch)
