I mentioned this lowlife to a friend and he said that the AP has sued for a lot less before. Apparently the Drudge Report was sued for reproducing more than 32 words from AP articles or something.

I haven't followed the whole story yet, but poster-written summaries and links to external sources would likely avoid the trouble, as others have mentioned.

No Staff, Admin or Mods commenting on something which could close the site or cause it to be sued?

For those that bother to read this thread, its a very legit area of concern.

If no one else thinks twice, the board owner might want to pay attention to this.

Board policy mandates I state that I shoot for BCM. I have also done work for 200 or so manufacturers within the firearm community. I am prior service, a full time LEO, firearm instructor, armorer, TL, martial arts instructor, and all around good guy.

I also shoot and write for various publications. Let me know if you know cool secrets or have toys worthy of an article...

The courts have stated that people do not have the right to post articles or pictures that do not belong to them, with few exceptions.

Proper annotation and linking to the main article should be enough. Reproduction (aka copy/paste of whole article) is frowned upon. Basically, stuff can be spread throughout the interwebs, as long as credit is given where credit is due, and a link to the offering website is provided.

Alas, it's the STAFF's call, but I have a few "friends" who are well versed in "fair use" and copyright. They talk about this stuff like most of us would talk about guns. (One is an assistant DA)
