    223 remington cobon dpx

Hi, there I have got the chance to get some corbon 223 remington dpx rounds at a good price. Has somebode allready testet that load? Would it be ok as an short range home defense load, or would it be better to use some soft point or jhp rounds as an short range defense load?

    greetings from austria.

The DPX is a Barnes Triple Shock, great bullet but penetrates deeply, not ideal for HD. I would look at 55 to 64 grain soft points, non bonded for what you specify. They are fairly cheap compared to the DPX. I personally like the 64 grain Federal TRU non soft point, it averages about 12 inches of penetration in all ballistics gel tests except windshields. If you don't like soft points look at JHP's/OTM's like Hornady 75gr TAP and SSA 77 grain OTM.

The 45, 53, and 55 gr TSX bullets all work well for LE/HD use at ranges under 300, especially using SBR's--I personally prefer the 55 gr load.

Boomer and DocGKR Thx for the infos.

I have also allread considered using some otm bullets, the horandy tap for example would available at my local gunstore, but I wonder how accurate they will be from my remington 7615 police. I have heard that rifles with an 1/9 twist are "happier with some lighter bullets from 55 to 69 grains.. Does somebody know if that info is correct?

With 1/9, it is best to stay with bullets under 70 gr.

I am sorry you are stuck with the 7615, it was one of the most atrocious excuses for a rifle we ever tested...

Sounds like a good reason to sell it and get a Bravo Company USA rifle. They are reasonably priced and excellent rifles.

I have already considered buying an ar type rilfe. The 7615 is an nice plinking gun, but that's it. An ar typ rife schould be much more versatile. I will check out if the brav company usa rifles are obtainable here in austria. I'd like to get an m4 type rif le.
