Anyone know of some one making retro AR's

I would like to get an ar in the same configuration as my old M16A1 I used in the Army. It was an H&R with trianglar hand guards and a forward assist. Thanks.

    Not factory, no....

Your best bet is to get a lower from Nodak and one of the surplus M16A1 uppers that's out there, and then an A1 buttstock and pistol grip.

Here's the info thread we've got stuck up top with links to the needed stuff....

Thanks. I have other AR's but this was my first so I want one. I wish I could have my old H&R. I hit every target out to 250 meters with it everytime. Sweet rifle for one so old and used (It was in an US Army basic training company armory, Delta 4-10, Ft Leonard Wood)

There are some extremely knowledgeable guys out there who prefer the A1 to the A2.

I happen to agree with them.

I'd love to have an A1 rifle with one of the FN 1/7" twist barrels that they made.

I'm in the midst of gathering parts to build a clone of a Colt 603/M16A1. I bought an A1 profile 20" 1/7" non chromed barrel from DEZ arms, and plan to get both the lower and upper from Nodak.

Try watching the forum's EE for uppers. I see one just sold for $250.

Two good sources of parts and furniture. Might want to add them to the sticky.

I was going to suggest Fulton as well. I'd much rather build a legacy gun from scratch with as many new parts as possible than to cobble one together with various used parts of questionable condition and perhaps get something that outwardly appears like the legacy gun but has internal upgrades to modernize it (such as perhaps having a 1:7 barrel, for starters).

There are multiple sources for demilled kits.
These kits were unused and in great condition.
Due to their re-import the barrels are newly made and not surplus.
One of these kits coupled with a NoDak NDS-16A1 lower is about as close as you can get.
Links to places selling the kits are available from NoDak's website.

Note: some of the kits do not have the FSB attached.
If you're handy you can pin the FSB,(major PITA) or you can send your barrel and FSB to Heatnbeat and he can pin the FSB with a jig.
Some of the kits have the FSB pinned for additional cost.
