    The dirt ring was designed to provide a place for fouling, dirt & debris to go. Theoretically, the bolt would be more tolerant of fouling, thus increasing reliability. In actual real world experience, it must not have been as beneficial as it was thought to be.

    Replacement bolt info

    Here are the details for getting replacement parts:

    AFAIK, MSTN and Lawmens (Casey) are the only places that I am aware of that regularly stock these. There may be others out there though. Lawmens is KAC's storefront operation. I have not checked knightarmco.com, but you may be able to order from there also.

    STRIPPED SR15 E3 BOLT, P/N 20433, $250.

    SR15 E3 BOLT REPAIR KIT, P/N 23339-1, $125. INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:
