With as soft as a 14.5 middy shoots, you don't really need a brake. YMMV.
    14.5 DD w/Vltor comp.
My mind is the weapon, everything else is merely an accessory.

Since someone else brought it up, I've recently went from the FSC556 to the Battlecomp 1.0... I have to say that in short, the Battlecomp is all the pluses with zero of the minuses of the FSC556. DO NOT get me wrong, the FSC556 is the cats ass if you are shooting kneeling, or above, and by your self. However, the Battlecomp keeps friends/partners/team mates all happy and in tight with you.

I swapped back to back on the same 11.5" SBR and prefer the 1.0 (that's one man's opinion). I have not experienced the flash issues any more than any A2. Might be powder, might be many things, who knows. I will say that 180 rounds right at about five minutes of back to back drills stringed together have this man convinced. Only problem I have is that I'm now going broke trying to put them on all my builds, and keep going to the range every weekend.

My only concern is longevity and how rugged the unit is... guess we will see as I tend to break everything (except my FSC556).

Again, that's only my personal experience. Other's opinions with personal experience may vary.

Remember, the Founding Fathers reason for the 2nd Amendment... to combat tyranny. Sadly, when people discuss the 2nd Amendment, the opponents erroneously think it was meant to stand alone... it HAS a preamble:

"...But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security..."

    I vote BC 1.5.....

I used the DNTC before they changed the design to the current FSC556.

Like stated above, the PWS is a great comp, but the BC is far superior in every aspect.

Thanks for all of the input. I ended up going with the 14.5" mid length with the A2. After reading this and other threads I figured that while the FSC556 seems awesome, the A2 fits my needs and was $59 less. I ordered the upper from BCM on Monday and got it Wednesday. I'll post pics once I get the build complete.

Do you actually have a Battle Comp and an FSC 556?

How many rounds do you have through each?

    Thanks,
    Cam

I'm not nrose, but I have a BC 1.0 on a 16" Noveske middy, a Rainer Extreme comp on my SPR, and an A2 on an old 20" HB. The BC replaced a Rainer on the 16" N4 Light Reece after about 1,200 rounds and now has ~400 rounds on it.

The BC is a compromise of sorts in that it's not as good a a true comp, but much much better than an A2 on controlling muzzle rise - while not being as loud as a true brake. But (supposedly) much better than a brake as far as flash goes. I've not shot mine in low light so I can only go by what I've read at this point.

At this point I think the BC will stay on my N4 Light since that's also my house gun. No plans for now to replace the Rainer on the 18" SPR since I don't know if it would affect long range accuracy; plus I don't pound a lot of rounds through that gun.

ETA: My son and I ran some 1-5 drills with the 16"/BC and the 20"/A2. The A2 was unbearably slow. From behind the gun I could not tell the difference in the noise levels, but the BC was noticeably, (but not excessively), louder when standing behind the shooter.

Not as good as a "true comp"?

I just ordered my 2nd BCM upper in a week. Its a 14.5" Midlength with Troy 11" handguards and FSC556.

I just read that the Troy 11" handguards and a full 7 oz. heavier than the 12" DD lite handguards.

    Buyers remorse?...
