If you go back and read my post, I mentioned putting an Aimpoint on the AK. Other members here and other places have done so as well.

You could also just mount the scope on an AR and be done with it. You don't necessarily need iron sights on that type of rifle.

Hence why I want the optic only AR (with the Swarovski) for shots over 150 yards.

    Thanks again.

I'm not going to get much into detail here. For right now just throw the Swarovski on the AR and have fun AT THE RANGE. That last tidbit was in caps because a 3-9x scope on a small AR with no BUIS is not exactly ideal for SHTF. Don't mess with free float rails, tubes etc. just yet. Shoot other AR setups and browse the forums for ideas and soon enough you'll have a clearer vision of what you want your end result to be.

Remember, in most cases people are able to make more accurate hits with an AR than with an AK. I'm not knocking the AK, I own several, but I'm just pointing out that you may be pleasantly surprised at what an iron-sighted and/or low magnification AR can do.

Unless you are up to arguing with Dick Metcalf.

Optic is an older Swarovski .

Purpose of the rifle is to cover 150-400 yards that I can't see with my iron site AK's with target practice, varmits, and heaven forbid WSHTF.

Lastly, its not technically a $600 AR, its an $1100 AR thats selling for $600 due to political reasons I'm sure most of us here know, so I really don't understand that comment.

I really could care less what some gun writer says. For starters they never have anything bad to say about anything. This is because they only do articles on weapons and gear from their advertisers and they never put out a bad report. So you can take Metcalf's advice with $5 bucks and buy yourself an expresso.

Easy solution build up a cheek rest or change stocks.
My Ak with an Aimpoint ML3. 3/4 inch cheek riser did the trick.
