You pretty much can get almost 10X performance nowadays out of a 6P sized light. Then you can mount it in a VLTOR/VTAC/GS/DCC offset light mount at 11 or 1 to keep things nice and slim.

500 Floody lumens. Head a bit bigger than a 6P.

    320 Throwy lumens. Head like a 6P

All use a UI that is unaffected by recoil and work great weapon mounted.

You sure you always have time to snap on a light?
You mentioned lighting up an alley to 200+ meters. I'd offer that the Surefire combination, while quality, might not let you get into a more stable position than unsupported prone for such a far shot. With a different setup, you can use an obstacle or object to support your gun and gain some stability and accuracy for that long shot.
The advice above is worth exactly what you paid for it.

I never heard of these guys, but that is the kind of light I am talking about! I am going to order one and see how it works out. All of the reviews were good, but I would not post a bad review either if I was selling lights. 500 lumens should be enough to determine what I am dealing with. They are not very expensive, I just hope they stand up to some recoil at the range before I put it into service.....

    Thanks much for the shortcut!

I have had one of each for a couple years with no issues, they can even take hi-capacity 18650 rechargeable li-ions for guilt-free lumens. My M20 not only put up with many many rounds through a 5.56 AR, it got upgraded to an AR-10 16" Noveske and several more hundred rounds of 7.62 with no issues.

Note: The M21 is 500 lumens but a bit floody, for pure throw the M20 actually goes a bit farther with a narrower beam. However, you can't go wrong with either of them.

    Good Luck!

    Dennis.

ps. I can't believe you just went out and took my advice without at least some arguing or questioning my knowledge, manhood, and useless geekiness Now I feel like I will have to care about your issues if you have any problems...

Not to worry, I have bought a lot of stuff with recommendations from this forum. I just don't have time to research a lot of equipment so I rely on others to check out stuff and follow they're suggestions. These lights are not very expensive, if they work half as good as they are advertised I will be happy. I saw they even have the offset mounts for them. I always carry some backup lights. I have never been on a site that has so much information on equipment as this one. True, there is some BS but you can usually sniff that out.
I should have my lights by Monday, if I have any issues I will let you know but will not blame you. It's my money, and my decision.
    Thanks again for the link!

I think you will be pretty happy then! I have all the SF stuff as well and these stack up with their own features. Although overall quality may not be as bulletproof as SF, it is more than good enough for general use.

However, I would be careful with the Olight offset mount. It holds the light a bit farther out than than other "slim" offset mounts and seems a bit fragile. Great for Airsoft

I know I keep stressing this, but if you end up liking the lights then getting 18650 LiIon rechargeable batteries will give you more output, runtime, and guilt free light!

I may try a G,G&G or some other part. I'll get it attached one way or another...

I have the surefire and I love it. You just have to remember that the foregrip adds another dimension to your carbine when you are maneuvering around cover etc.
