I got tired of waiting for Troy and ordered one from this outfit:

I haven't used it yet, but I noticed the nut to hold it on the rail is some type of plastic... hopefully not a low temperature plastic.

This is exactly the information I was looking for when I posted my original question.
Thank you all for your input.
Fact of life:
Although the EAGLE may soar proudly through the skies, it is very rare for the Weasel to be sucked into a jet engine.
Its already out. I ordered two from ar15performance.com a couple weeks ago. The nut is plastic however you can go to your local hardware store and replace it. I recommend replacing it with a lower profile nut w/ a curved washer. I have yet to do it myself but will as soon as time permits.

I believe the overall diameter of these rails to be smaller than that of a free float quad rail with XTM panels.
Did this make the Magpul AFG fit better or worse? Or how do you like the tube+AFG versus the quad rail+AFG?
How well do these hold zero using a rail mount front sight, and do they need rezeroing if the rail is removed and reinstalled?
They hold zero as well as any properly installed FF rail. Unless you have a way of ensuring that you can reinstall the rail EXACTLY in the same position, of course you'll have to re-zero. Don't anybody get the impression that you can just zero a rifle once and trust it. My zero changes as the day goes on depending on my eyesight. Always confirm zero at the beginning of a range session.
