JulyAZ, Nice! Your post inspired me to do a search for a KR-9 SBR. I found one at a good price and placed the order.
My DDI AK
Since I’m really getting back into these stupid things...
My white tape winter camo clad Russian SGL-21-61. You can’t really tell because of the tape but it’s sporting Bulgarian (=Russian) plum furniture. Other add-ons are a Primary Arms Cyclops on an RS Regulate side mount, Tangodown grip, Krebs safety, Manticore Nightbrake and a CDM light mount with a Surefire G2X which isn’t really particularly visible in this pic.
I’ve been shooting this thing a fair bit lately. Shoots quite well for a 7.62 AK, particularly with the optic.
My only complaint about this gun is that I wish it had the 100-series polymer side folder like some of the later SGL-21 models. The SGl-21-61 was I think one of the first SGL models to hit the market.
Next is my Arsenal SLR-104FR. Basically a semi-auto AKS-74. Also sporting plum handguards. Only real aftermarket upgrade on this one is a Krebs safety. With iron sights and 7N6 it shoots comparably to an iron-sighted AR with M193, so accuracy is quite acceptable.

I caved and put together a 7.62 gun- theoretically in order to take advantage of "available and cheap" ammo.
That didn't last.
The KNS Adjustable Piston makes it fairly soft shooting.

Checked zero on AK this AM because I put a different RD on.
3 mph wind out of North this AM.
Unreal nice conditions.
Nearly dead calm and overcast.
3 shot group with the Barnaul (Spamcan) at 100. IPSC target holding COM.
Group is smaller than the 2 MOA Dot. Doesn't get better than that with Ruskie MIL Spec ammo.
Dot scope is Holosun 2 MOA Dot.
Actually a pistol scope but they work fine on carbines, and are light.
AK is PSA beater.
Barrel, bolt and receiver are PSA- replaced a lot of parts.
Plan on keeping it.
