3 gun mods for the 1100

what do they do to 1100's for 3 gun to make them more reliable and faster? are the mods a dyi or should i go to a smith to perform them? now it has a factory extended tube and a rifle sight smooth bore barrel on it. i can lighten the trigger easily. is there things to polish to smooth it up on the inside?

Before I got my M2, I ran frankly IMHO the hot sh*ttest (is that a word) 1100 out there (except maybe Jerry's). Forgive the paint job as it was meant to be flashy to support a local painter.






The mods on this gun are pretty basic, but this gun 10000%:
- Barrel cut down to 22" and then threaded for Briley chokes
- Forcing cone lengthened
- Fiber optic front post
- Williams rear peep mounted to receiver (in retrospect dovetailing in a 10/22 flip up blade is a cheaper and easier install)
- DMW Easyloader (the forked happiness at the bottom)
- Choate bolt handle
- With a green scrubber, clean the sh*t out of the outside of the mag tube (where the gas rings ride)

After that, the gun likes to be clean and needs VERY LITTLE lubrication. My little maintenance recipe was to:
- use a Briley port brush to clean the gas ports
- Clean the bolt and action bars
- Use auto parts brake cleaner (same as Gun Scrubber but 1/3 of the cost) on the trigger group
- Clean out the mag tube
- LIGHTLY spray the inside of the receiver and the trigger group with Corrosion-X
- Wipe the outside of the magtube down with a rag treated with powdered graphite
- Squirt some powdered graphite into the mag tube

Carry 2-3 extra gas rings and your port brush and keep it clean. Some folks have found that drilling open the ports will help with reliability. I didn't have to. Also...on some guns you cut back the length of the Easyloader to relive the pressure on the feedgate.

All of this can be done on your own, but will tell you more folks f-up the Easyloader install than anything else and that will screw up that shotgun to where you're left with a bolt action shotgun.

Frankly, if I didn't own my M2 (have had it for 4 years) I would buy a FN-H SLP. At $860-ish MSRP, it sells in the $700-775 range at the gun stores. If you're current or former military FN-H has a coupon for $100 available and it out of the box runs like a champ.

alot of that i can do here at home. tell me more about the 100/22 sight and dovetailing. does it go into the rceiver? did you polish any internal parts or do trigger work?

Hey Muddy,
Not what you asked but I finally gave up on my 1100 and got a Benelli M2 and LOVE it. Not only for 3 gun fun but it is sweet on sporting clay, too. Light (as in quick to the shoulder), fast (of course) and reliable.

why did you give up on it? i got the 1100 real cheap and figured i would toy with it. it sounds like i am going to do some mods that the previous posted had done to his, thanks for listing your mods.

Because a out of the box M2 can out-perform most tricked out 1100's

p.s. I'm tricking out an 1100 as well (I like to tinker)

i got mine for 230 with a new set of rem factory synthetic stocks. then a smooth bore barrel w rifle sights for 75. i figured even if i spent a bit i still wouldnt be in very deep
