    Using an M4 upper for an A3 build...issues?

    I would like to turn my Colt A2 into an A3 and I am having a hard time locating a genuine Colt A3 upper receiver...all I can find are M4 uppers....I believe the M4 upper thas the larger feed ramps as the main difference between it and the A3 upper. If I were to use an M4 upper with the A2 barrel, would it create any issues? I would much rather keep it correct but like I said I cannot find a COLT upper, and since this is a Colt rifle nothing else will do...it must be Colt. Any ideas?

    You could try a LaRue Stealth upper. They don't have M4 ramps. If I were to build a 20'' variant I'd use a stripped Stealth upper and Noveske 20''.

    You know it's a hard find when SAW doesn't catalog them.

    SAW = Specialized Armaments

    yeah, that's the first place I looked....

    I knpw there are some others out there...I think BCM has them listed but out of stock, but since the rifle is Colt, I am sticking to Colt parts...

    I would have no problem using a BCM upper for what you are doing. Especially if you aren't selling it.

    Why does it have to be colt? All there's has is a "C" next to the forge code(Which can be any Forge) And a higher price tag..

    Because i want to keep the rifle all Colt...if it was any other rifle it would not matter to me.

    Why do you desire to keep it all "Colt"? If I understand it correctly, a Colt upper receiver isn't made by Colt anyway and the only difference is a "C" forged with it. My 6920 has the same keyhole forging as my BCM "M4" upper receiver.

    just because, my friend...just because...

    I don't know, perhaps I have too much time on my hands, perhaps I am just obsesive compulsive about such things.

    However, my question remains, would the M4 feedramps on a non M4 barrel cause any issues?

    I am not trying to be a jerk or anything but why do I have to justify my choice of a Colt upper for a Colt rifle? Yes, I am aware BCM offers a fine product that would probably be just as good, and I have nothing against BCM other than I don't have enough $$$$ to buy all the stuff I want to get from them, but that is not their fault now, is it? In any case I chose to use Colt as is my right to do...I hope...
