    Aftermarket AR Triggers

maybe there's a thread on this somewhere, but I wanted to try to localize talk about aftermarket triggers, especially since quite a few seem to be cropping up of late. I'd also like to keep together a complete list of known triggers and would love to see posts from others about the triggers on the list based on personal experience.

American Gold AR Gold - Single Stage - $279
Wilson Combat TTU - Single Stage - $269
    JP Tactical - Single Stage - $140
    Geissele AR15 Super 3 Gun Trigger - Single Stage - $230

Geissele AR15 High Speed NM Service Rifle - Two Stage - $279
    Geissele AR15 Super Semi-Automatic Trigger - Two Stage - $170
Rock River Arms Tactical Trigger - Two Stage - $120
    Knight's Armament - Two Stage - $320
    LMT Tactical - Two Stage - $140
    Extreme Shooting - Two Stage - $230

Good idea for a thread rob. I've been eyeballing a TTU lately but would like to know others opinion on that particular trigger group as well as other systems.

X-treme makes a great trigger that is fabricated from tool steel instead of cast. It is then Nitrided for a hard, crisp, durable sear. Plus it is even faster than a Geiselle.

i recently swapped my factory s&w trigger for a Geissele SSA and it's light years better. i had done some mild polishing to the factory trigger, but that can only do so much. the SSA is a fantastic trigger for it's intended purpose. it's my patrol rifle, so i don't need or want a match grade trigger.

I think it's important to qualify these opinions and suggestions.

If you suggest a product, state your experience with it. This should include how you got it, how long you've had it, how many rounds on it, in what environment, what your intended purpose is for the gun, etc.

I would like to avoid "hey look at this" kind of posts if at all possible, or at least include a "I've never used it" if that's the case.

It was a sticky in the Tech forum, as pointed out by TWR, but it's really obsolete now...

Given how popular, inexpensive, and effective it is, I think you should include a trigger job by Bill Springfield ($35).

I don't know if this counts as "aftermarket" since it doesn't actually replace parts...

Tried that. Total garbage IMHO. Gun started doubling almost immediately, trigger went in the trash.

I received a pair of SSA's 6-8 months back from Bill G and have put quite a bit of use of them. Zero failures or problems of any kind and they have only become better units as they have broken in some since new.

Installation is very easy and the units comes with red aviation type grease that should be applied to break the units in properly and then periodically applied to keep them running smooth. The units also include a slave pin which is a nice touch and incredible helpful for the installation process. Personally I could not be anymore happy with these units and I intend to try the new SSA-E's with a lighter pull sometime soon.

I have used these units in both precision and non precision applications and they perform well in both. I do think they are better served in a combat or duty gun over a SPR or recce, however I have used them to shoot plenty of groups in both SPR and recon builds and they performed just fine.

I've had a fair number of RRA 2 stage triggers...One broke fairly quickly, another has had at least 9k "through" it including 2 separate occasions where 3000 rounds were fired in a very short period of time (1 week the first time, 2 weeks the second) and is still going strong. The others saw light use and were sold/traded off.

As a side note, those 6000 rounds were surplus 5.45, and the stock spring is sufficient to pop the harder primers. I had exactly 2 light strikes out of the 6000 rounds.

I intend to try the Jard non-adjustable single stage pretty soon.
