I will claim to have seen because it is a FACT. There also many members here who have seen it. I have personally witnessed castle nuts and carrier screws come loose on select fire BM carbines.

This is a picture I took of one of the carbines that had a losse carrier key. The key was actually sitting flush but then started working loose while it was being shot on the range during work ups.

The staking is a backup to a backup in a redundant system.

But, the AR-15 public seems to have an inordinate obsession with gas key staking.

The obvious solution is go piston!

    RRA vs DD

Well, like the old saying goes " a picture is worth a thousand words". Hopefully, that will put an end to the debate over whether or not carrier key staking is important.

Who could I send my BCG's to in order to have them staked properly instead of buying the actual tool? I opened all my carbines and found some disturbing things. DD not included.

You can do it yourself like the military does- it's called the field staking method. Essentially you need a prick type punch and you will stake it from the top side of the carrier. look at the screws from the top and then place the punch on both side of the screw and stake.

It's simple and effective and all it costs is the cost of the punch.
