    Scope for 18" AR?

I put together my first AR15 using a BCM 18" upper with the 1:7 twist.

I want to shoot this between 100 and 600 yards. I'll be using 75gr match grade ammo. Hopefully this rifle will only be for range use and never brought into service, but you never know, so reliability and ruggedness is also important.

I'm considering the Leupold Mark AR 6-18x40mm.

Is this a solid optic that could hold up to some rough treatment?

Oh I forgot to state that I don't know anything about scopes as I have never owned one.

    I ordered a Bushnell Elite 3200 Tactical Rifle Scope 10x 40mm 1/10 Mil Adjustments Mil-Dot Reticle Matte.

    And for the mount a AR-P.E.P.R scope mount 1'' w/picatinny tops-matte,

    Also ordered some flip-up covers.

And it may be a waste of money, but I also bought a laser bore sight.

Thats a pretty open ended question, it depends on what you want to spend, what you want out of the scope, and what your experience level is.

If youre just plinking at cans or paper at 500 yards or less, no sense in spending 1-3k on quality glass, there are things in the 5-600 dollar range that will fill your needs and make you happy.

Id do some more research if I were you. Answer a few questions fairly solidly, then shop.

    1) how much do you want to spend?
    2) how much abuse does it need to survive?
    3) what features are important to you?
    4) is this going to be a toy, where its ok to look at "good enough" or is it something else?

Theres a wealth of information about optics here, most of it from some people who are VERY qualified to opine on the subject. Id suggest sitting down for a few hours and doing some reading before you go spending money on anything.
    Dont sweat the small stuff.

I mounted the Bushnell Elite 3200 Tactical Rifle Scope using the AR-P.E.P.R scope mount.

Took it out yesterday and got it sighted in at 100 yards. It was a learning experience to say the least as this is the first scope I've ever owned.

Once it was sighted in, I was lucky and got a couple 1" groups at 100 yards. Had few 2" and 3" groups too. My fault of course.

Going to take it out again today and practice.

This isn't a top shelf scope, but for a beginner to learn with I think it's just fine.

In a previous life, I used to own cheap optics. I quickly learned that I was only short changing myself, and limiting the accuracy / performance potential of my chosen weapon. I decided to pony up the dough for quality kit.

I have a Nightforce 2.5-10x32 in a LT SPR mount on my MK 12 build, and couldn't be happier. If you're looking for accuracy at the distances you wish to shoot, this is a good optic to have.
