Yes, mulitple times. It was one of the first things I thought could be the issue. The BOBRO mount is pretty nice and clamps down very solidly on the rail. The ring held the AP perfectly tight.

For me the proof that it wasn't the sights was using the Aimpoint while viewing the dot through the irons (small aperature). The dot sat perfectly on top of the front post as I held the irons in alignment. If the AP was loose enough to cause the kind of spread I was getting, I would have definitely seen the dot shift in relation to the irons.

The upper went in the mail today back to BCM, with instructions to contact me after it has been checked out but before shipping anything back to me. If indeed they find a problem and offer a replacement upper, I may upgrade to this one. If so, I'll replace the standard A2 FH with a BattleComp.

LOL, I cause more trouble for myself with that damned camera!

I will absolutely keep this thread updated. I have a good feeling that this will work out just fine!

Yeah, I'm on board with those pointing to the optics & mount.

If it is a Quick Release-type mount, make sure the tension adjustment is set so that it takes significant effort to work the release lever.

Also, make sure that the cross-bar of the mount is placed against the front of the rail notch, so that the sight doesn't have anyway to move forward as the gun under it recoils back.

Good luck & keep us posted.

If you have another flat top maybe try moving the Aimpoint/Bobro combo to another upper and see if you still have issues. The problem could be with the sight and the mount could be fine.

Have you ever been taught how to use a RDS? The method you mention using will cause all kinds of issues. Irons and RDS are two separate sighting systems, which should not, if even possible, be used together. I have seen many new shooters who were told by other cadre to "lollipop" the sights, leading to much frustration of RSOs, including myself, and the shooters. I don't recall ever seeing such a spread group, but then again we were shooting from 25m.

I truly wish it was a sight issue - it would have been much easier/faster to fix - and I wouldn't be missing the next carbine match I was looking forward to shooting with the new rifle. And indeed, a sight issue seems to be the most obvious cause of the problem.

However, the rifle was fired fully supported off the bench using (1) the iron sights alone, (2) the Aimpoint alone and (3) the irons and Aimpoint in combination. The results were always the same.

In my letter with the returned upper, I asked that BCM test fire the upper themselves - I hope that they do. In the mean time, the Krebs Custom AK103k is still good to go for the match.

    Perhaps one other possibility?

I see that the sling is mounted on the front sight. Are you pulling the sling tight, or just letting it hang? I have heard that pulling it tight can mess with your groups, but I don't know if it would do it this much.

You are sending the whole gun back to Paul, with optic, for test fire?

No, just the barreled upper as I had purchased it.

Sling was off, fired off a bench on sand bags.
