I was removing this rail to install a Troy VTAC, so it's not going back on immediately. I also trashed the nut getting it off so I'll need another one of those before I sell it.

Glad you got it off Rob. As soon as I read the top I said " torch it" to myself. It does appear they used to much on there, but it sure didn't come loose now did it? Anyway, glad you got it off.

Why in the name of all that is holy would anyone put Rocksett or Loctite on a barrel nut? I am stunned.

To be fair it's not the barrel nut. It's the collar that holds the rail to the nut.

    rob,

Thanks for the info. I am not familiar with that particular set up as I have the other DD rails.

Ouch, that's a lot of loctite. You're certain that is ADCO installed? I can't recall that being their method of install, in my one experience, or seeing it hit the net before. I think they do a lot of install work, and this would have come up before.

That's exactly what mine looked like, installed by ADCO. I *almost* completely stripped the collar getting it off.

    Rob,

Who's receiver block are you using?

Let's not start that here. The issue I think you're referring to is best left to those directly involved.

I don't actually object to the locktite used here I just wish I had known about it before I started wrenching. I will still send them work, and in fact have an item I will be sending out to them this week.
