    This has been my biggest problem going from Eotechs to this new T-1 I mounted (my first Aimpoint). I agree that the mounting location doesn't seem to matter much to me relative to FOV since I sight an RDS with both eyes open, but acquiring the reticle is easier for me if the eye relief is shorter.

    The bottom line is mount the T-1 in the position that works best for you....

    I run it in a position where I find the dot to be easy to find, and the housing doesn't feel like it is obstructing anything

    I run mine basically centered over the bolt release
    I have played with it forward and back and centered works..
    I also wanted the mount on a different part of the rail than the mount for my scope...

    with 30mm Aimpoints I like them more forward
