Going into the store because of the phone call FROM HIS WIFE was clearly the right thing to do. But remember, a CHL is not a license to use deadly force, only to carry a weapon concealed.

Based on what is publicly known, the threat that caused the CHL to fire would not have occured if he had not pursued the bad guy.

ETA: The ONLY reason us lowly civilians have CHL's is to protect ourselves and others from the immediate threat of death or great bodily injury, or protecting your property from theft after dark (In Texas anyways).

I'd bet a dollar this CHL holder engaged the bad guys not because he perceived a threat, but because he was pissed off that they accosted his wife (not saying that's a bad reason, just insufficient)
Interesting discussion. Doesen't deadly force also extend to iminent threat of bodily harm to your family?

Certainly. But in this incident, the CHL holder fired on the BG as the BG was exiting the building.

FWIW, Tarrant County is EXTRODINARILY pro 2A and pro-self defense. The Sheriff has signed off on numerous NFA items for myself without so much as a telephone conversation.

I would rather face the consequences than to live with the fact that i didn't do anything to try to save a loved one.
I don't disagree with you Nationwide but i don't think i would have been able to stay out of the store either, how do I look at my kids if something would have happen to their mother and I did nothing to protect her? I would rather go to Jail than to live with that tought for the rest of my life.

You misunderstand my position. I think it was a fine and brave thing to do, for our CHL holder to enter the store with the obvious intention of providing safety for his wife. There is no legal risk involved here either, as it is a public place and it IS his wife.

My point is that he fired the shots in question, at an individual who no longer appeared to be a threat. We (as private citizens) do not have the legal authority to chase down gun wielding bad guys in a public setting, while firing unaimed shots in their general direction. Watch the video, the CHL holder is attempting to "point shoot".

    I agree with you 100%
I think a situation that he found him self in would probably be one of my worst nightmares.
