I agree on chamber too tight if you can't extract with the CH. Check that first as well as head space the if OK move on to ammo/casing. Brand/quality should be posted so we can eliminate sticking steel coated ammo.

Edit: Mac1 posted faster but same deduction from your info

There is nothing wrong with the British ammo. The fact is that it was designed to be used with the SA80 and not the M16 FOW.

The ammo was purchased for use by the USG because of the shortage of M855 ammo. It was only to be used for training.

If you are lucky, it's the ammo. Seen it a bunch. Trained the 82nd ABN for three months a couple years back. They were force fed British 5.56. Horrible quality control compared to M855. Hundreds of 'Failure to Extracts'.
Had a guy chamber a Jolly Rancher candy wrapper once and couldn't for the life of me figure out why so many failure to extract until deductive reasoning kicked in and I pulled the wrapper out w/ a a dental tool.

Did you clean and degrease the chamber before firing?

Did you lube the carrier and bolt before firing?

Ditch the 1-piece Macfarland setup and try standard gas rings. A very tight Macfarland without lube can lock up your weapon.

Have a gunsmith inspect your chamber to ensure it was finish-reamed.

I ran a dry bore mop through the barrel before firing, but I did not perform a proper cleaning of either the chamber or bore.

    Yes.

The bolt did seem a little tighter than normal when installing it into the bolt carrier, but I didn't think anything of it at the time. I'll change out the gas ring for a proper set of three.

Will do. Thanks for the info.

I'd replace the whole BCG with one of known quality.
