    question about Trijicons

I am building a 16" AR "light-(er) weight" and I am interested in the Trijicon Accupoint 1.25-5 scope. mainly because it does not use batteries, is variable in power and in my budget.

It will be in a scout type mount. appx 4" forward of rear sight. in a Larue quick release mount.

My question is, what is the general opinion of the guys that run this scope?

    Is there a preferred reticle?

I have other scopes of similar design in mind but none of the others have the no batteries design feature.

    thanks for any help.

For close range or predator guns, and the like the 1-4x TR24's with triangle reticles might be worth the extra money, but the TR21's are still very good optics if you're on a budget.

I really like my TR24R (I'd decide between the Red and Green triangles in the low power), and the LT104 moves it far enough forward for me (though going with the SPR-E would still work well).

Mine will end up on my SR-15 or M4A2, it's a very flexible optic, and I'd happily pay twice the price for one with a good BDC and external turrets.

For the dollar, any accupoint's glass is almost unbeatable...these are extremely fast target acquiring optics that are extremely reliable and relatively rugged. The adjustments are simple and crisp as well. Just dont expect to shoot groups with them as they are not so much designed to do that.

The reticle choices are the triangle w. posts and the German #4 crosshair.....the triangles are faster and less precise..vs. the German's being more precise but imho quite a bit less fast than the triangle w. post. So I personally would only go w. the German if you are really wanting to get the most precise applications outta this TR21, if not go with the much faster triangles.

RED, GREEN, AMBER....will prob. be debated til the cows come home and I still have never come to a consensus on folk's favorite ret. color. On my TR21 I have the amber triangle w. post and its wonderful however I think my tastes favor the red and I prob. would switch if I could now.

Lastly the TR21's BAC feature is prob. one of its finest and makes for an overall very user friendly feature.

ETA....do not fear the battery as modern day AR furniture allows you to store a kitchen sink so CR2032's are no problem to find a nook for

I have been extremely pleased with my TR24G w/triangle reticle mounted in a Larue LT135 1.93 mount.

I been using this setup for a few months now, two carbine classes
(Larry Vickers and Steve Fishers/MDFI Carbine II) fired probably
4500-5000 rds. ALMOST as fast as my ML3 Aimpoint, but the
clarity of the glass and extra power make up for it, and is great for my older eyes. Best investment I have made AR wise...

since you asked about the 1.25-4X power scope, I assume you're looking at the TR21, and beyond what the other folks have said here, i will just add that for the TR21 you will definitely need the extended forward mount, such as the Larue LT-139 SPR-E. I believe ADM (Recon-X or Scout-X?) and Bobro (?) both make an equivalent mount as well.

Excessive eye relief was my biggest complaint on the TR21. The 1-4X TR24 does solve that issue (and almost all the others) if you can afford to move up to the slightly more expensive TR24.

I use the red triangle, but would love to have a green triangle as well. I do not care for the German #4 for my purposes.

    I wish Trijicon would/could offer the horseshoe-dot reticle in a TR24

Me too, and about 10,000 other people. They couldn't build them fast enough to keep up with demand for a few years.

I have the same set up as Sparkman, great scope and very clear even for me with an astigmatism. It is heavier than my Aimpoint was but works better for me.
