If BCM makes them and the price is right, I will buy one. One of these with an a1 upper receiver, MOE handguard and either an a1 stock or a sopmod will be my next build.

Stick you are absolutely right. I'm for not having biased opinions and just mutter garbage because you dont like something. I dont personally like the dissipator but I'm not going to talk bad about it at the same time. There are some features I like about it. Some I dont. However say what you want but for the massive majority of people use irons for a back up correct. However it may be its not always a SHTF scenario. Could be a day at the range and oh man I forgot extra batteries. I think that sight radius in all that goes without saying. Anyone that has shot any amount of time knows this. Dont believe me pick up a 7" bbl and try that. You can love your optics and love your DD 10.3 SBR. We love them too but you dont have to come here and say that rifle is garbage it makes no sense just because it makes none to you. Educate yourself maybe. Or at the least open your mind to what others need/like.With that my rant was over. Not a tongue lashing at all but if I wanted to be over at AFCOM I would be. Id rather play with big kids however.
Put me down for one.
who said i didn't like having a longer sight radius. I said that people are going to bring it up because that's the only benefit of having this dissapator configuration. There's so many threads asking "BCM LW VS _____" and the bcm light weight always comes out on top. Even when the light weight is not part of the original post, someone suggests getting the light weight barrel. Then something like this gets released and suddenly light weight goes right out the door, yet everyone's raving about it.
man....brown nose are we? I love how you put words into my mouth. Saying it's garbage? Please show me where i said that it's garbage. You see a post by a respected member on the forum and you jump on the bandwagon to try and bash someone by making what they said worse than it really is. You said in this very post that "it's not for you" which is exactly what i said as well. Stick named this thread "Dissapator - Yes/No?" and i gave my opinion on it assuming that saying "No" was an actual option. If i'd have known that "yes" was the only answer, then i would have not posted anything.

I can say that I have always wanted a Dissipator, ever since I first saw them many years ago. But the problem is I do not see an actual application for them. Why a Dissipator? What application do you see it filling? I am not “hating” on it. I am just looking for an application so I can justify getting one. I do care about weight when we are talking about rifles. My Mk18 that I have here in the Stan weights more than most of the 16” guns on this forum. So I just want to know what people are going to do with them. If it is, “it just looks so cool”. I totally get that, I am right there with you on that.
In no way do I make any money from anyone related to the firearms industry.

Brown Nosing? I dont understand that. Because he's Stick? While I envi his proffession I do not need his approval. Its the internet. While you did kind of take that personally I dont blame you. I wasnt directing that entire post at you. Mainly towards the people that state their own opinion and tell everyone else theirs is dumb "cuz I dont like it". I apologize because it did seem that it was in your direction. I was merely stating a fact that I have noticed then threw in my .02 on the sight radius. However if you are offended yet and need a backrub I cannot be of service. By the way usually the bandwagon is right regardless of who is holding the reins.
The Dissipator style makes sense as an all around rifle, with close range being most of the work it will be required to do.
The longer sight radius is nice (it's my preference, if I'm going to have irons, the longer radius does help, I don't care who you are). But that's not the only benefit. Like most, my position of my offhand on the stock changes with the position and stance I am in. Being rather long of arm, beyond CQB, I tend to not run all scrunched up, and like to have my hand further out than a lot of other people. Which is why most of my rifles are 20" rifles, even for close in, because it's what works for me.
Now, the only Dissipators I know of are by DPMS, Bushmaster, etc. If someone who puts them together right starts offering one, it would be a perfect storm for my preferences.
It's the rifleman's iron sighted carbine. If your an irons shooter, it's ideal. I don't use mine for defensive stuff since it's a little big for indoors. But out in the bush, it's perfect. Rail mounted FSBs do NOT come close to being 1/10th as strong as a pinned, forged steel front sight base.
Now if you're going to throw a damned AIMPOINT on the thing, you're not optimizing the set up.
