Now if you're going to throw a damned AIMPOINT on the thing, you're not optimizing the set up.
My thoughts exactly - it's the ideal carbine for irons. If I end up building one (and I will, budget allowing) mine will be iron sights only.

    Unfortunately, you're right, as usual.

FWIW re: Dissipators, my first AR was a Bushmaster Dissipator. Not a great company, but I loved the concept then and still like it now.

The longer sight radius is nice (it's my preference, if I'm going to have irons, the longer radius does help, I don't care who you are). But that's not the only benefit. Like most, my position of my offhand on the stock changes with the position and stance I am in. Being rather long of arm, beyond CQB, I tend to not run all scrunched up, and like to have my hand further out than a lot of other people. Which is why most of my rifles are 20" rifles, even for close in, because it's what works for me.

Now, the only Dissipators I know of are by DPMS, Bushmaster, etc. If someone who puts them together right starts offering one, it would be a perfect storm for my preferences.
Adco and Spikes are making disapator uppers.

Nice looking upper. How many rounds before the paracord on the FSB melts? Wouldn't a Colt side sling mount work better?

I took the plunge on a Spikes as well. Should receive it shortly and I initially plan to use an A1 stock and either a carry handle or DDA1.5.

However, I will still grab a BCM dissy when they are released

BCM is almost to where they have to go to a "made to order", pre-paid upper way of doing uppers.

Made to order would be OK with me. I wouldn't like a 100% up front payment, but something like 50% would probably be OK. Are you listening BCM?
