Oh by the way- I only mentioned 24" as to compare weight to the Bushy Varminter with a barrel of that length. My barrel length will be 20". HBar barrels are middle weights when compared to heavy bull barrels

A note about DEZ Arms,,, they can, upon request, custom size your gas port. Call them up and ask Sherry. Very accomodating people.

Not very durable? What do you base THAT statement on?

Mine's been on my 20" for over 2 1/2 yrs and better than 6k rounds! This isn't "durable"?

Oh, and if it's "too heavy" for you .. go to the gymn! It's lighter then a lot of gas blocks on the market. And, on a bipod equipped varmint rifle weight isnt that big an issue. We don't hump our weapons 30 miles a day like we did when we were in the service.
    Is the block pinned? No.

Does the adjustment setscrew rely on blue loctite to stay in place? Yes. That's what JP sells on their website for that purpose.

What is the service temperature range of blue loctite? -64 to 300F.

Do gas blocks get hotter than 300F? I take mine over that temp every time I shoot. So why should I rely on a completely ineffective glue to ensure that my weapon functions reliably?

These are the facts on which I base my statement that it is "not very durable."

Now, do they have their place? Absolutely. I had to call JP to double check. I was about to order one of their gas blocks for some high speed video I am working on this week, and I wanted to double check on a service life I'd heard from a reliable source (2500 rounds). The guy at JP was really helpful and said that the steel ones will last the life of the barrel, but on a carbine gas system, the aluminum ones will flame cut within 300-600 rounds - however, on a rifle gas system, they don't wear out.

Also, where did I say that the gas block was too heavy? I can't find any reference to weight in my post. But to respond to your statement, I do carry my rifle for miles at a time. Speak for yourself.

You are correct, the Dez Arms people are very helpful, I met them at the SAR show and they were a pleasure to deal with.
