Anyone notice a renewed interest in rifle gun games from manufacturers?

I'm hearing FN is trying to get folks running SCARs, Remington has a team that apparently is running the RGP, Noveske has a shooting team, BCM is sponsoring (I think) our own GotM4...

Once upon a time many manufacturers seemed to make a choice between being taken seriously and being involved in the games, but that appears to be a thing of the past as none of these companies/rifles are designing or being designed for the games.

FN certainly is making a push. There has been a show on Versus called 3 Gun Nation which was invovled with the 8 biggest three gun events in the US. Not sure if it still running or not.

Along with that, many of the companies are embracing the social networking scene which is something I did not expect.

I believe FN is sponsoring a TV show on one of the outdoor/sporting channels as well (3 Gun Nation).

The Remington looks nice. Is that a Remington lower in that pic or someone else's?

Costa had a JP 762AR at the Precision class- I guess it goes both ways.

From what I've heard, the number of shooters at 3gun and tactical competitions is up this year too, at least here in CO.

From all our travels only FNH USA's team shoots the scar in competition. Just our observations.

BCM sponsors Ted Punente, well known Limited shooter. I didnt know they added GotM4, good pick up if they did.

In addition to FNH USA, DPMS, Adams Arms, Remington, Rudy project, Noveske Rifleworks ,Firebird Precision Firearms, Loki Weapon Systems, Rock Castle Shooting Center aka Team Rock Castle, Triangle Shooting Sports all have official teams. Plus, cannot forget the Army Marksmanship Units Action shooting team (who attend most major 3 guns across the nation). 3 Gun is THE fastest growing shooting sport, period. www.3gunnation.com has helped that with the 25,000 on the line and 5K at each participating match. You can watch episodes on 3gunnation.com as well as versus network on Monday at 730 AM and Thurs at 3 PM.

Also, those guys involved with "games" may have backgrounds in serious trigger work too. Ben Fortin would be a good example of what I am talking about. Same with Frank Proctor. They seem to find real value in the sport.

Free advertising with people well respected in the active civilian shooting market.

If I made guns, Everybody who won a major division/championship title, or was well known, or was a well-respected shooter, would have a free gun from me.

It does two things, one, again, free advertising, two, it gives you great feedback from people who shoot guns for a living.

I'd have sponsored shooters and sponsor events.

I mean, why not support the people who support you?

That's what I don't understand about people who neglect the Civilian market, that's just walking out on stable business.

If anything I see the military (which is the most coveted of customers) as the most volatile of them all.

    Just my opinion.

Quite a few things (techniques and equipment) pioneered in the action shooting "games" have been successfully adapted and used by LE/MIL.

(I am not including DCM/CMP matches in the above)

The manufacturers know that the Nascar concept of "win on sunday, sell on monday" works for guns, too.

Not to derail the thread, but I need to correct myself... it appears to be a Lancer L15 lower.

As far as sponsorship is concerned, did anyone else notice that in the final rounds of the 2010 FNH Midwest 3 Gun, both shooters were using a suppressed SCAR instead of the rifle they used throughout the competition?

It's at 6:06 in this video:
