Name of a quality receiver to build onto?

I want to build a tight paper shooting rifle, and have an LMT lower to build onto. While Colt and LMT upper receivers are preferred, sometimes I can find a good deal on a complete upper with the bolt, carrier, and all. Can you advise what name manufacturers I should buy or avoid? I don't know an LAR, from a Stag, to a YHM.
