    Just took a job offer

I just took a Job offer at Bolling AFB in D.C. $85K per year +bonus health care and 3 weeks paid vacation. We are working out a benefits package now but he told me do not think you will be at 85K per year because I want to grow your position to include more people. It is a progam manager position at DIA

They are also going to give my wife a Top Secret Clearence and then she can find a job in the area.
My severence package is $50K from the Air Force and the Air Force and the company are paying relocation. I have friends in D.C. but I can always use more. I start 1 Aug 2007.

Congrats! Don't know what the jobs entails, but kind of think that $85k is a little low for DC. Most classified jobs in the Hampton Roads area (where I just came from) were in the $80 + range and the cost of living is much cheaper than DC.

All that really matters though is that you like the job and is something you want to do.

$85K is start off. The president wants to pay for my Program Management Certificate, polygraph, and he expects the position to pay upwards to $110K-$120K base in the next 2 years maybe more.

He said with the benefits they are giving me it will come to $100K per year.

My wife has a Masters in Homeland Security and works for a local DHS office so they are trying to get her her TS so she can get into some of the positions with their company or another they work with.

They are also helping with relocation costs.

    Nice job offer. Congrats!
But, being in D.C. where will you hide you guns (just kiddin')?

Good job man I just got a new job as well. It will get me a TS /SSBI. I feel fortunate considering a few months ago I was in a dead end job with no clearance and now I am GTG.

Thanks for the kudos and encouragement. It will be a change. Going from wearing the same BDUs everyday for 5 days to wearing a shirt/tie or a suit. I still want to join the reserves so I am looking at that now.

Roger. Having worked Govt. Contracting for MANY years, make sure to get the raises in writing.

The Polygraph isn't the lifestyle one is it?? They ask some really bad questions in it.

The three weeks vacation (paid is pretty standard in this industry).
