    Mossberg 590A1's heavy barrel

Is this barrel heavier on the breech end only, or is it a full length heavy-walled barrel?

The whole barrel has a heavy-wall. It was primarily intended to take the punishment dished out by Sailors / Marines (and the like) smacking them against steel bulkheads on board ship.

They have a preety differant profile. I just got in some 500 barrels that are heavy wall. Let me hang the picutes for comparision.

The standard barrel is tan the heavy wall is parked.

    Differance in lug height

Side by side. It's hard to see, but the lighter barrel has more curve to it, while the Heavy barrel is straighter. The tan barrel is 2 lbs, the heavey barrel is 2 lbs 6 oz.

    Whoa, that's a big differance.

I'm glad I opted for the 590 instead of the 590A1.
