SOMEBODY makes these; I've seen them. Just spent an hour searching, with no joy.

What I'm talking about is a pouch to hold a single magazine, for wear on a standard (1.5") gun belt, alongside the pistol mag pouch.

Any ideas?

In addition to those mentioned, I've seen single pouches in basketweave finish, but it's been several years. They were about $20. IIRC, they were Tex Shoemaker or Strong.

Has anyone tried the Brownell's "polymer" pouch? I do not want plastic, but my options are diminishing rapidly...

I have one of their's. It's made by Bladetek with the Brownell's logo embossed. It has their tek-lok system and seems to be pretty GTG. I'm not sure what your intended use is, mine has only seen light range use so far.

... Point being, the work involved making a simple pouch like yours pictured IS minimal for a competent leathersmith. The only difficult part is getting the template right. It costs $60 because it has a "name" embossed on it... or the "name" built it...

Hmm... not sure about that one... I suspect there's a bit more to it than that.

As for where to find a pouch... to my knowledge the only quality makers producing a leather AR mag carrier are, as others have already mentioned, Alessi and Sparks... Josh Bulman also makes a very nice carrier that is essentially the same design as Lou Alessi's.

Not that I can find. I prefer the Sparks pouches, as I think the unmarked one is really intended for a 20 rounder and I'll probably limit it to use with those.

I got the unmarked one in trade for a kydex.
