Anybody ever dealt with LMT service?

Any of you ever dealt with LMT service?

I'm really frustrated that I can't find an upper to fit tight onto my unfired LMT defender lower. I was pretty darn dismayed to try putting a new RRA,CMT, Daniel D, YHM, Model1, and LWSchneider upper receiver onto the LMT only to find all would rattle loosely on it.

I'm wondering if I should just send the LMT lower to LMT, and ask them to individually fit and sell me a tight fitting upper to it. Maybe I'm wrong, but I get the impression they may not accomodate me like say an Armalite, RRA, or even Colt company would. I'd die if they put a mismatching fit and color upper on it, charged me $200 and sent that back to me!!!

Usually tight fitting parts, on purpose, is a sign of a company that builds shit products, and uses the "fit" as some alternative quality benchmark because they can't meet mil-spec type levels. The AR was designed as a combat weapon, and thus should be able to be field stripped without having to resort to using something to punch the pins out. The tightness of the fit has NOTHING to do with quality of the gun unless its out of spec, and its not supposed to be tight fitting. Theres nothing out of spec about a gun that has a little wobble between the fit, and it makes break down doable without tools.

Besides if you shoot the gun enough eventually even a tight fitting upper/lower will become loose.

LMT service is fantastic...but I agree with the other post...upper/lower fit has essentially no bearing on performance so I doubt even they would do it...but they might.

    As stated' just shoot it.

Using a feeler gauge, what is the space between the uppers and lower you have checked??

Do you know what the acceptable standard is (TDP call out)?

Do you know that the upper and lower is supposed to have a loose fit?

Personally, I have limited experience in shooting lower-tier weapons because I am awesome. All kidding aside, I have shot a few lower quality ar-15s and it seems that those specific weapons tend to have a tighter fit. Ironically, it was those weapons that I have experienced failures with, save for my friend's stag. My lmt/DD combo never gave me a single issue that wasn't ammo related up until I sold it. As belmont stated, the slop is good. The ar is like any other weapon, tolerances that are too tight result in failures, thus some of those guns require break in periods (which should be unnecessary if the firearm was manufactured properly in the first place). Good advise has been given... place a quality upper (lmt, dd, bcm, noveske, colt, etc.) on it and make it go bang.

I have an LMT factory SBR and an LMT factory lower with a BCM upper. The BCM and LMT finish is not an exact color match but it is pretty damn close. If it really bothers you try an accu wedge I had one in a gun I bought used and took it out because it made things too tight for my liking but it might make you happy and they are cheap.

I would give BCM a good look. There are lots of us here bought them when their prices were higher; they are having an awesome sale on their uppers now. If you add a BCM BCG to the order for like $135 you get a standard BCM charging handle. That is a good deal. Or you could order an LMT upper from BCM or someone else.

I have two BCM uppers the quality and customer service is excellent. I've had great luck with LMT customer Service Too.

    well

I have an LMT lower and MRP upper they fit togher to tight. The colt lower/DD upper I have, also has no slop what so ever. Its luck of the draw.

Last time I deployed my unit got new rifles (M4s) I went in to the armory took my assigned lower and swaped out 5 or 6 uppers to get a tight fit.

Like the other guys said I suppose it does not matter but Im super anal on some stuff and I like what I like.

On the customer service issue I know what you mean

This will fix you up. End of slop, no special tool required for take down, nothing to disintegrate and fall into the FCG.
