Remington needs to know that a majority of LEO, my agency included, does not issue their patrol rifles. If they are looking for the LEO market they need to come out with a semi auto version because a lot of agencies allow patrol rifles, but semi auto only.

As far as cutting barrel weight down a little, there have been some side projects by some to swap out the existing Bushmaster barrel with mil-spec barrels from other manufacturers. From the looks of the few forums I've seen it on, some were successful, some were not.

Spike's is working on an ACR barrel project, as well, it seems.

They should know this already. Most of the LEO I know run privately purchased carbines, not issue weapons other than a pistol.

If there is an LEO/Mil model for $1500, I would jump all over it.

main caveat is you have to get a barrel without a gas port drilled because if you use an AR15s standard gas port you will overgas an ACR. So it needs to be smaller.

any other details on the Spikes thing?

Honestly, I felt the weight and it didnt bother me at all...maybe thats just me. I would be more interested in a the quality/features offered in the Remmy LEO/.mil version...although I am not holding my breath.

I would to. I thought they were going to be that price initially.

Weight is never a problem when something is just picked up. It's two hours later, with all your kit on, after you've been running and gunning. There is nothing desirable about a fully kitted 11lbs 5.56 carbine.
