    White Oak Armament vs. BCM/DD

I'm looking for a 16" midlength barrel to complete my carbine build.
The main purpose of this rifle is to be SHTF 2012 kind of gun. It needs to be accurate out to at least 400 yards and not excessively heavy.

So far the part list consists of:
    Spikes Stripped Lower Receiver
    DD LPK
    DD BCG
    DD Striped Upper Receiver
    DD 12" Lite Rail
    DD Low-Profile Gas Block
    BCM Gunfighter Mod 3
    Magpul B.A.D.
    Magpul CTR
    Magpul A.S.A.P.

    White Oak Armament $279:

    Daniel Defense $286:

    BCM $299:

Which do you prefer? Any pros or cons? Huge weight difference between them?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    David

I have a stainless 16 in middy 6.8 barrel from WOA, a DD CHF 16 in Middy and a DD 16in CHF Carbine in 5.56. I have no complaints with any of them and they all are quite accurate. My next build is a BCM 14.5 middy. All seem to be good choices. I may be wrong but I think WOA uses barrel blanks from Wilson, BCM may use FNH barrel blanks and I think DD is its own supplier.

If you had to guess which one would you say weighs the least?

There are too many barrel configurations between brands to say which one is lighter. I would say go with the Light Weight BCM if you are trying to make your build as light as you can get it. I am trying to hold off on my purchase of a BCM middy 14.5 in hopes that they will release their light weight middy 14.5 soon. Centurion also has nice light weight barrels.

I just saw that WOA makes a Lightweight barrel for $273 and it seems like a pretty good deal. As of now I'm going with that.

At 400 yards, .223 is virtually useless. To add. For a true shtf situation, I'd go for a 16" middy with factory pinned fsb. If you're stuck on the low pro gb, I'd have it pinned for sure. As for barrels. I'd go chf bcm.

Yes, I am stuck on the low profile gas block and it will be pinned.

    Any specific reasoning?

Cold hammer forged unit will give you the most practical lifetime, and the DD is the best priced (though the BHF are also great looking units).

I'd say the DD and BCM Lightweight 16" units are going to be the lightest (.625 @GP), and for the value they keep up great. If you're going to run it really hard, then a Centurion or Noveske Rogue Hunter could make sense, but even the BCM non-CHF is a great barrel.

Given the existing DD Content of your rifle, the DD Lightweight seems like the simplest option anyway.

    Now thats a detailed answer!!!

I'm stuck between the DD Lightweight or the WOA Lightweight. The WOA is 33 ounces. Im not sure how much the DD is.

I would go with a DD bbl, just to keep things pure. That way if you wanna let it go to fund the next project that hits the drawing board, Ju gotta awesome dd upper to offer. I believe all dd barrels are chf, so pick one of their lw profiles. I got a 14.5 mid/govt from addax a few months ago for $250 for a stripped bbl. I'd bet the 16" is the same price.
