    I agree. Don't get me wrong, I like my Glock (hell, I like all guns), but it would be more interesting to do it with a 1911.

    You can always start with the 1911 and if it can't hack it, switch to the 17. A Rogers instructor told us that many do start with their own 1911s but end up switching to school's 17s midway through the class. As much as I love the 1911, shooting 2500 rounds of .45 in 5 days ain't my kind of fun. I am low speed/high drag.
