You make hits at 750 with a 1-4X?

I've made accurate hits at 600 yds with iron sights on my competition service rifle. it does have a Douglas match grade barrel on it and a diopter insert in the aperture but still, that's open sights... I'd be very confident of making good hits at 750 (all things considered) with a 1-4 on the same rifle.

I wouldn't say that it doesn't work at all. As with all optics, there are compromises. IMO, as a practical matter, it is the equal of Nightforce and better than Leupold. SB and USO are better.

I use a 1-4 on my 10.5, I feel its just as fast as a RDS after some practice but rds is faster when shooting from odd positions.

I like the XTR-14 for some of the same reasons already stated, 1x for anything inside 100 and can adjust up to 4x for 100 and beyond. I have found myself replacing other optics on my rifles with the 1-4x, that's bad cause my EXPS is not old at all but I feel the XTR-14 is just more versatile for my short to medium range arms.

XTR-14 came with a BDC chart.

Combined with an American Defense Mfg. Recon mount.

My poor attempt to take a picture through the scope, showing the reticle.

    Illuminated.

Another lousy attempt. This time a close-up of the reticle.

    And illuminated.

Quality of pictures is not an accurate depiction of the clarity of the glass used. The optic is extremely clear and the images are sharp and crisp. I would put this scope up against any $1000+ glass.

Looks good except for the brightness of the reticle in daylight.

Those pics look pretty good to me, thanks for posting them.

I had a TR24G that was great in daylight. Intermediate lighting is where it wasn't as strong. City streets at night, something along those lines. I wish Trijicon would add a horseshoe and some type of illumination along the lines of a Tripower to the accupoints. They would really clean up.

I was actually surprised how bright the Burris was. I would imagine in bright sunlight it would wash out, but the black of the reticle would really stand out.

First, I am by no means a photographer, but it does have sufficient illumination in sunlight. Second, why use illumination with sunlight ? Illumination is really only needed with low light conditions, the black reticle is much more pronounced during daylight.
