Earlier this year, Glock, Inc. released an extended capacity OEM 22rd magazine for its .40 Auto pistols. Since that time, customers in the market have asked a variety of questions about the magazine, its size, fit, construction, and its protrusion from different models.
While working on another project I snapped the pics below, and offer the following additional information to help clarify what the magazine is and is not.
This magazine is a Glock manufactured and marked OEM product, otherwise identical to others in the line.
The capacity is 22 rounds. It is loaded like all other Glock magazines, with no greater difficulty. Witness holes are correct to round count. (Pictured: BHA 180gr GDHP)
The magazine is molded with provisions for both the ambidextrous magazine release, and the new reversible version.
The magazine uses the current #9 follower.
The magazine is disassembled and reassembled like other Glock magazines. It uses the same floorplate and insert. The spring is stainless steel, and 17 coils.
The metal lining of the magazine is identical to the others and has a seam along the back wall. The internal metal tube is two stacked sections. One extends from the top of the magazine down to just below the 15th round witness hole. The second extends below that. Photo is taken from the bottom of the magazine.

The magazine fits all open-top magazine pouches checked. Pictured: Safariland slim-line pouch, 15rd and 22rd magazines.
Live fire of the 22rd magazine demonstrate the same functional reliability of the standard capacity magazines.
Sum: The 22rd magazine is a form and function identical partner to the standard capacity units. It will require unique magazine springs over its life cycle, but is otherwise operated, maintained, and carried like the others.
