Thanks for all the replies guys. Glad to know I can always count on this site when I run into trouble. I think I'm gonna give freezing it a go (after I can buy some more nail sets).

Gotm4, what sort of damage should I be watching out for on the FSB. I've definitely put a ding or two in it, but figured it was cosmetic.

Pretty much just cosmetic damage from the punch. You can touch in up with cold blue.

At least this makes me feel all warm and fuzzy about the durability of my BCM FSP.

while i'm sure BCM taper pins are good quality, usually the harder to remove pins are of softer stock. but any pins can be tough to get out.... the toughest pins i ever had to remove were installed by myself- after i figured out a new technique for install.

i made a "note to self" on that day: "when figuring out new techniques for better fastening, subsequently figure out new techniques for removal as well."

Thanks. I have used a commercial auto store spray for freezing-shrinking in the distant past and was just wondering if there might be some new, improved way.

I'd like to order one of those blocks some day. Unlike you, I just don't do enough FSB R&R to justify the purchase. A block of wood always seems to work just fine for me.

As a professional gun smith I can definitely see where it would pay off.

Just the typical 3/32nd nail set. It has a tapered shank.
