I've used AR15s before for hog hunting, but didn't own one until recently. Because of the Covid hysteria, I had to go with a lower and upper from different sellers. Ended up going with a 14.5" BCM upper and lower. Because of my eyes, I chose to go with the prism sight which is heavy, but at least I can get on target quickly with it.

It ain’t cheap but check Shamazon for Aervoe Coyote. It’s as close to FDE as I’ve found and it’s a pretty hardy paint. If I have the colors I prefer using Aervoe for my rattle can guns.

Hey thanks! Turns out I have a box full of Aervoe from "Fred's Stocks" back in the day... No Coyote though but might try the Earth Brown.

Brownell's sells actual Magpul FDE spray paint. It's their Aluma-Hyde spray.

I have Aluma Hyde but it goes on a little thick and too permanently for this build. The upper receiver below is done in AlumaHyde Earth Brown and it's noticeably darker than the Magpul FDE handguard.

Brownells FDE is backordered. I ordered some Aervoe coyote so we will see....
