I guess I'm more interested in the 'why' of the Mega trigger. It 'seems' popular, but next to no info on it shy of the link in the second post...
My ALG trigger is single stage. Although it's not the best single stage out there, it is $65 and it MUCH better than any stock trigger I have out of a LPK
+1. IMO I like my ALG ACT just as much as both my curved and flat CMC FCG's. Only better option IMO for single is the what SSE 3gun Geissele I think? Not sure about the SSE part as honestly there is way too many Geissele FCG's for me to remember lol.
I really don't see much gain from swapping a trigger only and leaving the existing hammer etc in there, unless it's something like a ACT hammer. Not sure how the Fail Zero hammers are etc.

It doesn't seem at all popular to me - it made a very brief splash and then (to me) died out. For the price and tuning required you are not that far from a Geissele trigger, and when the ALG Defense (separate but related company to Geissele, owned by his wife IIRC) triggers came out I think that was the nail in the coffin for the Mega design. Someone who wants an affordable improved GI trigger will go ALG, someone who wants a single stage pushed to the max will go JP Rifles or Timney (or AR Gold???), and someone who's happy with 2-stage or hybrid will go Geissele. Not much room for a $100 trigger that requires tuning and then performs marginally better than a $45 drop-in (ALG QMS).

Agreed. I feel the ALG QMS is the best value on the market right now. I installed 5 of them last week...all great.
In all of my builds, I generally put a Geissele SSA. They're just excellent triggers. It's even better if you can find it on sale.
If we are talking upgrading from a stock USGI trigger I would say that the ACT is a damn nice trigger, smooth and crisp. Have one in a BCM build I have. Have also worked with RRA two stages that are okay, but side by side (Literally) am not convinced that it is all that much better than the ACT and personally think my ACT that I installed is smoother than the factory RRA two stage NM. Other than that Geissele is the big name in house at the moment and I have yet to hear anything really negative outside that they aren't cheap enough to stick in every AR.

I took a sip of the kool aid and installed an ssa in my rig yesterday. Need to ring it out still but it feels smooth and breaks crisp. I looked into other triggers like the qms or sending it out to Springfield to get it smoothed out. Mainly due to the price but In the end I decided to go with the ssa. I could find not one complaint other than price and those were from people that were thinking about purchasing one. Actual owners showed no gripes and I'm sure I won't complain either.
I always suggest that folks do some research before making that move. There are numerous problems reported....sending it out to Springfield to get it smoothed out.
