    Correct end plate install?

I always assumed that the correct install for a standard end plate is for the indentation to go into the rear of the lower receiver, but I have a factory Colt 6920 where it is installed facing the other way. Which is correct, and how much does it matter?

If I am understanding you right that is backwards. Can you post a photo?

Unless it is double sided it looks backwards to me. Is it a new gun or is it new.to you? I would contact the manufacturer and ask them to fix it.

It is an older Colt LE6920 that I purchased from a private seller NIB. If all needs is to be reversed, I can handle that.

Is the staking on the castle nut broken? I'm wondering if it was built that way at Colt, or it it happened to re-assemble itself while it was sitting new in the box.

Staking is still intact, and true, the seller could have been a liar, but I received in this the wrapper, in the original box. He said he bought it new, and it sat in the safe until he needed cash and sold it to me.

It is indeed on backwards. Colt uses some substantial staking, so be sure you have a decent wrench and be ready to lean into it.

Very odd, but stuff can slip through QC on occasion. I had a bad BCG from Colt and they sent a pre-paid UPS label for pickup. If you're not inclined to tackle it yourself, I would call Colt.

Perfect time for a QD end plate from Noveske or DD.
