Tell me about the Noveske N4 barrel

I'm considering doing a build with an N4 barrel, the 16" midlength version. I see that the 14.5" is supposed to weigh the same as an M4"govenment profile" barrel, but with an improved profile that actually makes sense. So, would the N4 be considered a Lightweight barrel, a Midweight, or something in-between? How would this affect the balance of the rifle, in terms of which telestock to use? I would be using a long DD M4 RIS II handguard with this build.

If your planning on doing this build yourself you are SOL, because noveske nor anyone else will sell just the N4 barrel, they will only sell you a complete rifle or upper.

At this time Noveske only sells the 10.5 inch N4 barrel.

I e-mailed them about this a not long ago because I too really want one of their 14.5 inch N4 barrels.

The 16" N4 barrel weighs approximately 1 pound, 12 ounces; basically the same weight as a 16" M4/government profile Colt barrel.

Yeah, you have to find an authorized dealer who will build to your specs. Bummer, eh?

That looks a little thinner than the Centurion, which is considered to be a Midweight. Hmmm....

On my last build after adding everything up it was cheaper to buy the complete upper from Noveske than to put one together.
I'm glad I did because they use a really nice Rail on their uppers.
It has slots along the top. Kinda reminds me of the old Colt Python revolver.
This upper with a Gressele SSA trigger makes a extremely accurate set up.

My SPR uses that barrel. I am lucky to have one of the 2 or 3 authorized dealers who can get those barrels near me.

The thing shoots like a dream and is still light enough to push around in a carbine class.

I've SEEN Noveske barrels (and uppers, obviously) advertised for sale on Gunbroker.

They are usually asking $500 for one and as others have stated it's probably cheaper to order the complete upper.

You could contact Rock Creek Barrels (Mike Rock) and he could produce something equivalent. No idea the price or lead time, though.

I won't say how much I paid for my barrel but I will say it was fairly close to that for just the barrel and lo-pro gas block.

it should have to be close to that. This is my local gun store and they had a Recon 16.1 for over that....

Christ if I cant pay more then $200 for a barrel my wife and wallet would kill me.
