I'm looking at getting a dump pouch, preferably a thigh mounted one. What's everyones suggestion? I'd be using it to carry empty AR mags, and was hoping to find one that I can stuff 7 mags into.

Probably the two most commonly used pouches are the Maxpedition Rolly polly and the C.S.M. Dump pouch. Both will hold 7 mags.

realizing fully well this is not what you asked for but it will hold 6 magazines on your thigh. I believe it will also perform better in a tactical environment, being easier to reload quickly and such. take or leave my suggestion either way I was hoping help.

if 7 is a must I would recommend the Rolly Polly or CSM as suggested earlier. this is the one I would recommend but it holds 8

Mounting a dump pouch on your thigh is terrific if you are standing on a square range stylin' and profiling, but the drawbacks will become readily apparent the instant you hae to move or use positions other then standing.
I have seen six people this year 86 the roly whatevers for the CSM gear dump pouch (which is a USMC issue item). It is the best of the dump pouches available.
Mike makes great stuff. Plus he is a real deal guy.

Be cautious on how much you cram into it, or any other piece of gear.
Thanks Pat. I think I'll go with the SAS Eagle pouch, it can also mount onto my chest rig. I'll give it a try out at the range and see how it works set up differently in different positions.
Vest were made to carry rifle plates and all of your MISC stuff.
I would recommend this if it were me, I actually own this and can say it is very decent quality.

I know you dont like flaps but they are there for a reason, After I grab the first mag I leave it open and i havnt had one fall out yet.

Placed an order for the SAS dump pouch along with some other gear.
I used a Maxpedition RollyPolly at one of Pat's classes a month ago. It seemed OK at the start, but it seemed to loosen up too much - and it wasn't deep enough. I don't think the intent of a dump pouch is to dump one's mags on the ground, so I will likely replace it with one from CSM.
