I guess I was caught off-guard because I didn't know there was such a thing as a poser in the AR15 world, unless it was used to describe someone who puts together fake builds online to pretend to own an AR maybe? Sort of like someone going to a Corvette forum talking about how awesome their Corvette is, when he/she is 15 years old and doesn't have a car at all. It seems to me that if you want to build a rifle to mount on your wall, that shouldn't make you a poser- just a frivolous spender, for example
Aaron, ignore the poser comment. It was a dumb thing to say and it is stuff like that that chisels away the credibility of forums like this.

As far as missing anything... Some sort of optic will probably be in you future. But with what you had listed. you will have a fully function rifle.

I'm REALLY liking the Gen 6 PA Micro on the ADM QD mount. This will allow me to have my fun at the range and a cool looking optic (yep, I want something that looks cool lol!) but I can also detach it when I head home and store the gun in my closet, because I'd much much prefer to run irons for home defense than any optic that has to be turned on first.

An Aimpoint has a 5 year battery life. Leave it on 24/7 and change it once a year when your dad changes the battery in the smoke detector.

I'd love to, but there's a big difference in a $100 red dot that will be great at the range and a $500 that I could, but never will, take to war. Difference being $400 I could put towards paying off school loans lol. I'd love to pick up an Aimpoint and maybe some day when I am more on my feet I'll get one but right now, the PA will serve my purpose just fine. You are very correct though, leaving an Aimpoint on 24-7 would be my ideal home defense optic.

Why would I change it when my dad changes his smoke detector? I could hypothetically change it when I change my smoke detector and I'd be much more likely to remember

And yeah quad rails look cool, but I NEED something to mount a flashlight and VFG on in case of the unfortunate event of something going bump in the night in my home. You are the very first person I've heard say Del Ton's stuff is anything less than excellent. I'm not a soldier, LEO, or competitive shooter- hopefully this gun will just be for me to enjoy at the range etc. so I guess I'm not sure how I look like a poser for potentially not building my rifle the same as you would.

And most of my research has been done on ar15.com, here, ar15armory.com, and through countless random websites where I've read up on product reviews etc. I've also talked to friends (some LEO's, some soldiers, some neither) that own AR's about what stuff is good and bad, and talked several times with my gunsmith on the topic.
I have learned the hard way to just spend the money up front. I bought a cheap 4 rail hand guard that clamped on without having to take anything apart on the rifle. It was nice and solid, but conducted WAY too much heat! After a few mags, I could barely touch the thing.

I am back to stock hand guards now.

If you just want something that holds a VFG and flashlight and you like the look of quad rails, you could take the route I did.

$50 bucks, easy for a newb to install, holds things just fine. You get the look and feel of a quad rail without busting your wallet. Mine holds fine groups with the 4 power optic i have.

I wanted the same thing, a foregrip and light. I had no reason to free float the barrel, and even less funds to do so with. The rail was in my budget and I'm very pleased with it for the price.

Please don't put Chinese parts on an American Rifle.

I put something similar on mine. I thought the look would be nice, but I got the lightweight version and it just added weight and conducted a lot of heat.

Which are you saying you'd stay away from, the Magpul MOE handguard or the Troy drop-in? Both seem to be quality units from everything I've read thus far, and both are American companies (I think, anyway?). Thanks for the input on the experience you had!
