    Who sells AOW shotgun's

Who sells AOW shotgun? Do you buy the shotgun you want then send it off and have it customized to your liking or something? and what are the limits of what you can do to the shotgun?

There is info in the ATF handbook on how to get a tax stamp for an AOW. I would say get a Serbu. From what I understand AOW has to come from the factory with a pistol grip.

Also, if I recall correctly, to be an AOW it must be a raw receiver that is registered as an AOW, if it was ever registered as a regular shotgun, its a no go as an AOW.
    Dont sweat the small stuff.

If youre not taking fire, its all small stuff.

That is my understanding as well. If I understand correctly they person who builds the weapon as an AOW first pays the 200.00 and after that the transfer is only 5.00.

That is part of the reason why they are so costly.

Thats why you pay an SOT to do it, odds are if its a simple cut and crown job you will get out for fair amount under the $200 tax stamp. Simply pay a $5 transfer after the SOT registers it and maybe a $70-90 crown and cut job fee and you are good to go.

Sorry, you lost me. It's my understanding that you cannot use a shotgun to make an AOW. It must be a factory shotgun that was in a pistol grip configuration or was a blank receiver.

It may be easy to find a Mossberg like that, but I haven't seen many Remington pistol grip guns.

The legal definition of a shotgun is "... XYZ ... designed to be fired from the shoulder", therefor pistol grip shotguns fall into what the ATF calls "Other" (look on the second page of a 4473 below where you sign it).

A pistol grip shotgun can then be registered as an AOW by a SOT for $0 (we pay a yearly fee to cover all guns we register) or by a non-licensee for $200. The transfer from a SOT to a non-licensee is only $5 wether the work was contracted or the gun was in the dealers inventory.
