Benelli M4 Slugs / 00 Buck recommendations (Upcoming Shotgun Class)

I'm about 5 or so weeks away from Magpul Dynamics Handgun 2 / Shotgun. And I need to procure my 12ga ammo for the class.

I know that the Federal 2 3/4 birdshot works great in my benelli. I've also run Remington 2 3/4 and 3" slugs and buck. However that starts to get pretty spendy for the class.

So short of going out and trying each brand, can any M4S90 owners chip in on what they know works well? I've been told anything not 'low recoil' should work, but better safe then sorry.

Off topic (i don't know the answer to your question) - I would be interested if you have any add-ons to your M4, such as optics, lights, slings, rails, for your class?

    Thanks,

I'll be running a T-1 on the stock base, with a SF m80 rail, SF E2D, Magpul AFG, G&GG cocking handle, and one piece magazine tube.

My old M1 models have always run good with any Remington/Federal/Winchester Wal-mart promotional #8 or 71/2 7/8 oz loads. The only failures that I have ever had were dud primers.

Isn't the M4 gas operated or at least gas assist? Is it affected by low-recoil loads?

If it were me, unless there was a requirement for Buck or Slugs, I would go with 7/8 oz shot promotional loads. They won't wear you out too bad and should be relatively cheap.

I would think if the old M1 models run well on it, the M4 should run as well.

The class reqs are: 200 bird, 100 buck, 100 slug.

The M4 is gas piston operated. Grant, what does the flight control cost in comparison to the normal loads?

Our case price on the 00 Buck FC is pretty reasonable: http://www.gandrtactical.com/cgi-bin...on&key=L132250

We can also work up a case price for you on the slugs.

If you run the Federal FC in your class, you will not only out shoot everyone, BUT be the "Cool Kid" in class because you are shooting a very rare LE round.

Grant, I'll shoot you an email and see what we can work out as far as a price for the required ammo. Thanks. I've yet to try the flight control, but hear it's insanely effective.

I shot that group I sent you the link to with a modified Choke, I am told that the FC does better with an IC. So check your M4 and switch it out before you do any accuracy testing.

I'm going to plea ignorance here, is the Federal FC a reduced recoil load?
