Careful my friend--it's addicting and may prove difficult to stop!

That's a nice AR, just needs some backup sights.

Why does he need backup sights?

Batteries have this horrible tendency to go flat just when the SHTF. I personally have buis w/ tritium inserts both front and back (troy industries bs trits)

RDS's are nice and the Eotech is a great choice but, there are two components you'll find on 90% of all patrol/SD/HD carbines.

    High intensity white light

Back up sights.. either flip up or fixed.

Here in Wisconsin tritium front posts retrofits are required by most departments.

Since the OP built the rifle, I was assuming that it wasn't going to be going out on patrol.

I think backup irons a great idea in an issued duty rifle, especially for the police officer that throws his AR in the trunk of his squad and leaves it there for months at a time, pulling it out only twice a year to qualify, and otherwise provides no maintenance, including checking/changing the batteries of his RDS. Otherwise, I just don't see BUIS as a big-deal adjunct to a quality RDS, especially on a rifle that can store extra batteries.

Having said that, it's true that a set of front/rear Magpul sights can be had for less than $100, probably less than 10% of the cost of the rifle. No downside to it, I agree.
