    WikiLeaks Iraq

Well, it is out now and I don't intend to discuss the pros or the cons, but rather to say that I have been browsing through the contact reports and was surprised to find the majority of my incidents listed, though they are heavily edited and no names appear.

I even found the reports on the incidents that claimed the lives of many of my good friends.

The incident reports are even linked by grid to google maps.

So, if you were over here, you may want to check it out for possible PERSEC issues.

IMHO this is an act of treason and should be treated as such...

    Agreed!

BTW, The database has been increased over the past day. Documents now date to the end of 2009.

It seems that they used some kind of editing program to remove names, etc, but it didn't do a very good job. Common words got omitted as well. Maybe the heat got to the Wikileaks folks and they attempted to clean it up. Thus, while it is still treasonous, it is a mess and possibly not as damaging as was expected?

What kind of news is this making back in the States?

Isn’t wikileaks Swedish? If so you can’t do much to them, but the people leaking info would be fair game.

Yep that is the catch. I have always been of the opinion that there should be complete transparency in all things related to the government except where it pertains to the security of ongoing operations. Essentially once something is over we should know about it.
In that regards I have no real problem with Wikileaks.
The real problem comes from the fact that they don't just stop there. Anything and everything is posted with no regards to the lives it could cost. That to me is a huge problem.

Also while WL is operated outside the country, the information has to come from somewhere. I would imagine Military personal that leak this info have broken more regulations that I could count. Regardless of my personal opinion on the subject, they have violated Rules and laws they they swore to abide by. They should be found and punished.

Didn't the military catch a guy in the last few months who claimed to have leaked a ton of information to WikiLeaks? It seems I remember reading a comment about a guy who said that the information he gave would make the last leak pale in comparison.

I don't think a bunch of "little fish" would regurgitate the type of information on Wikileaks. I think we have a mole much higher up in Military Intel (probably several) who are, for whatever reasons, out to thwart US efforts and reputation both INside and OUTside of the USA.
